St. John's Foundation

Tree in the FogThe purpose of the Foundation is to support charitable, educational, and religious causes and projects of St. John’s Lutheran Church of every kind and nature. Over the years a variety of activities have been funded and include support for the Food Shelf, Parish Nurse, camp counselor scholarships, youth concerts, crisis intervention programs, and supporting church families in need. With money available the Foundation can fund over $25,000 in activities each year and has funded over $150,000 since its inception.

Contributions to the Foundation are somewhat unique, in that all funds raised are invested. Only the earnings from those investments are spent each year. In essence, the funds keep giving year after year. The St. John’s Lutheran Church Foundation was incorporated in 1982 with a gift of $30,000. The Foundation investment fund has recently reached an important milestone of $1 million.

Funds are raised primarily through pledges, memorials, special gifts and estates. Beginning in 1999 there has been one major fund raising event each year, which consists of a Boat Cruise and Silent Auction on Lake Minnetonka.

We invite all St. John’s members to pray for the success of the St. John’s Foundation, participate in the annual Boat Trip / Silent Auction, make a special gift or pledge and/or remember the Foundation in your will. All gifts are tax deductible and will help us continue and expand St. John’s good works.
