Children and Youth Choirs

St. John’s Cherub Choir (Grades K-3)
The St. John’s Cherub Choir meets on Sunday mornings (during the program year) at 10:00 AM for 20 minutes and sings in worship approximately one time over the course of two months.  Children learn to explore their voices through games and warm ups.  Rhythmic awareness is taught via warm-ups, instruments and anthems.  The highlight of each session is preparing a song for worship.

St. John’s Youth Choir (Grades 4-8)
The St. John’s Youth Choir meets on Wednesday Nights (during the program year) at 5:00 PM for 30 minutes and sings in worship one to two times per month depending on the season.  At this age, the choristers are ready for challenging literature that explores different languages, including Latin.  Focus is on developing a unified choral sound with good production and technique.  Choristers also explore singing in two-parts and canons at this level.

For more information on joining choirs at St. John’s of Mound, please contact Sarah Garner at 952-472-1416 ext. 227 or sarah@stjom.org.
